Present: Councillors Mick Toates (Chairman); Brian Petre; Ros Townsend; Joan Evans & Zelda Barter-Rayner

Disabled Blue Badge Consultation – Huntingdonshire District Council want to talk to people who use a Blue Badge
Huntingdonshire District Council are holding discussion groups in St Ives, St Neots and Huntingdon. They want to talk to anyone who has a blue badge and uses the car parks in the towns listed, to help find out how suitable current parking provision is.
So if you’re a disabled driver, partner/spouse, parent of a disabled young person or carer then please attend one of these events to share your views

Council Tax Benefit is Changing – have your say
Local people are being urged to take part in a consultation on a major change to Council Tax Benefit.
The government’s announcement that it will be abolishing this benefit in its current form from April 2013 will have a direct impact on thousands of Huntingdonshire residents. Pensioners in receipt of Council Tax Benefit will be fully protected by government, but working age claimants will be affected. Continue reading

Alconbury Weald Planning Application
Huntingdonshire District Council have received a planning application for the redevelopment of the former Alconbury airfield and want to know what you think about it. The application will be for up to 5,000 new houses and up to 290,000 square metres of a mix of office or industrial employment floorspace. It also includes shops, community facilities, schools, sports facilities and open space. The application will include an Environmental Statement (an assessment of the likely significant impacts on the local environment). Continue reading

You can now recycle your plastic pots, tubs and trays
In the UK, householders use around 1.5 million tonnes of plastic packaging every year, and, until now, much of this ended up in landfill. Huntingdonshire District Council are pleased to announce that everything from yogurt pots and margarine tubs to shampoo and milk bottles can now be recycled as part of your kerbside collection. Working to Reduce the Speed of Traffic in Kings Ripton
In 2012/2013 Kings Ripton Parish Council applied to Cambridgeshire County Council to be considered for the programme of Minor Highway Improvement scheme. The scheme invited bids from Town & Parish Councils & Community Groups aimed to improve the environment, encourage walking, cycling or use of public transport.
Kinds Ripton Parish Council successfully applied to reduce the speed limit through the village from 30mph to 20mph with the Council providing at least of 10% contribution towards the cost of the proposed project. Continue reading
