Annual Parish Meeting held on 8.5.12 -KRPC M1

A meeting of the Annual Parish Council was held at the Village Hall, School Lane,Kings Ripton, on Tuesday 8th May 2012 at 7.00pm

In attendance:     Councillors Mike Toates (Chairman); Brian Petre; Ros Townsend &
Mark Joyce.

Present:  Huntingdonshire District Councillor Robin Howe; Cambridgeshire County Councillor Victor Lucas; Mrs Joan Evans; Mrs Zelda Barter & three members of the public.

1.         APOLOGIES

 None were received.

2.         MINUTES

Copies of the minutes of the Annual Parish meeting held on 12th May 2011 were                   approved and signed by the Chairman.

3.         CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

The Chairman presented a report on the Councils activities throughout the year and          plans for the new local government year 2012/2013. A copy of the report is attached to the original minutes of this meeting. 

4.         REPORT FROM THE VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE

No report was presented.

The Chairman acknowledged the improvements that had been made to the Hall and informed those present that the rotten hand rail would be replaced with a metal rail when the weather had improved.

 5.         REPORT FROM ST PETERS CHURCH

The Chairman invited Gillian Flowers, Church Warden of St Peters, to address the meeting. A copy of Mrs Flower’s report was passed to the Clerk and is attached to the original minutes of this meeting

6.         REPORT FROM HUNTINGDONSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL 

The Chairman welcomed District Councillor Robin Howe to present a report to Members, a copy of which is attached to the original minutes of this meeting.

7.         REPORT FROM CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

The Chairman then invited County Councillor Victor Lucas to address the meeting.

Councillor Lucas informed Members that Stagecoach had committed to experimenting with extending the guided bus route to new destinations such as Peterborough, Ramsey and Chatteris.

Members heard that Councillor Lucas believed that the service from Peterborough would stop at Sawtry, proceeding down Sawtry Road. Councillor Lucas had requested that the service stops at the nearest point to Woodwalton in Abbots Ripton, Kings Ripton and Wyton before continuing to St. Ives.

Councillor Lucas encouraged Members to support the proposal of a bus stop nearest to Kings Ripton and put the proposal in writing to Stagecoach.

Members were informed of a scheme entitled ‘Connecting Cambridgeshire’. The project led by Cambridgeshire County Council in partnership with Peterborough City Council and various organisations aims to bring superfast broadband to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Residents are asked to register their demand by visiting the County Council’s website or completing a paper version that can be found in public buildings such as the library or local council offices.

Councillor Lucas reminded Members that the structure of the Neighbourhood Forums were currently under evaluation with a proposal that the existing Neighbourhood Forums evolved into Local Joint Committees.

Members were encouraged to review the consultation and were advised that the closing date for comments was 8th June 2012.

The Chairman thanked Councillor Lucas for his report meeting.
